📝 Overview 📝
Cosmos is a project that is trying to develop a blockchain that pulls all other blockchains together into one interoperability platform.
The Cosmos hub is seen as the “internet of blockchains” and this is the Cosmos network.
Cosmos is built on the Tendermint BFT core algorithm. This connects the consensus and networking layers to facilitate communication between the hub and all the zones.
Other parts of the technology stack include the Application Blockchain Interface and the Cosmos SDK.
Powering the Cosmos Network is their ERC20 standard ATOM utility token. This was issued in an ICO that took place back in April of 2017. They were able to raise a total of $17.3 million.
ATOM tokens were only distributed after the mainnet went live in April of 2019. The tokens are currently trading with immense volume on exchanges such as Binance and Huobi.
ATOM are quite volatile so you should be careful when trading as there is a risk.
The team has been quite active in development and they have backgrounds in software engineering and blockchain technology. Two of the founders are actually founders of the tendermint application as well.
